Solidarity, great cuisine and high fashion: nothing was missing from the charity dinner at the “Peter Thalguter” House of Culture in Lagundo, organized to support the activities of the Merano Missionary Group “Un pozzo per la vita” (GMM) in the field of hygiene, education and health in Africa. Thanks to the collaboration of the Merano Winefestival, the Chefs Association Merano-Bolzano and the Order of Masters of Cuisine and Executive chef – FIC, the evening was an opportunity to also present a project developed by GMM with the Professional School of Merano “Luis Zuegg” specialized in clothing and fashion.
The girls who attend this course, followed by the teachers Anna Maria Lechner and Herna Wiedner, have created a collection inspired by Africa, but addressed to the European market, using some African fabrics, which will be sent to one of the vocational training centers supported in Benin from the GMM where it can be reproduced.
Returning to dinner, the dishes prepared by the chefs, including the kitchen master Giorgio Nardelli, Luca Giacomel, Antonio Colantuono, with the collaboration of Bruno Cicolini, were served with great professionalism to the approximately 170 participants by the students of the hotel school “Cesare Riz“from Merano accompanied by the dining teacher and maître Paola Tiengo and under the careful direction of the maître Gabriele Riccobono.
On the occasion of the evening, Helmuth Köcher, president of the Merano Winefestival, gave the GMM president, Roberto Vivarelli, a symbolic check corresponding to the amount – over 12,000 euros – collected thanks to the Charity Wine Masterclasses, the guided tastings of great wines paired with 2018 edition of the event, intended to support the reconstructive plastic surgery mission to the “St. Padre Pio” hospital in N’Dali (Benin) which will start at the end of June.
